1. Choosing the Right Transfer Option

Is DTF the right choice for my brand, print shop, or small business?

Yes, for many businesses it is.
DTF is a strong option for brands, print shops, and apparel businesses that need consistent, high-quality transfers with the flexibility to handle both small and large order volumes. It works well for everything from one-off custom jobs to larger production runs, especially when you need vibrant color, fine detail, and fast turnaround.

It’s a great fit if you want:

  • Full-color prints without color count limitations,
  • Reliable results across different order sizes,
  • An efficient solution for both short runs and bulk production,
  • Flexibility across a wide range of garment types and designs.

Whether you’re producing a few pieces or scaling larger orders, DTF gives your business a practical way to stay flexible without compromising print quality.

When does DTF make more sense than screen printing, HTV, or sublimation?

DTF makes the most sense when you need flexibility, strong print quality, and a process that works just as well for small orders as it does for large production runs.

Unlike traditional methods that can become restrictive depending on quantity, color count, or garment type, DTF gives you much more freedom. It’s a practical option when you want to print exactly what you need, whether that’s a short run, a restock, a custom order, or a larger-volume job.

DTF is often the better choice when you need:

  • Full-color prints with fine detail,
  • Fast turnaround,
  • Multiple designs or variations in one workflow,
  • Reliable results across different garment types,
  • The flexibility to scale from low quantities to high-volume production.

For many apparel businesses, DTF stands out because it gives you the freedom to order what makes sense for your business, without being boxed into one type of production model.

Which garments work best with DTF transfers?

DTF transfers work well on most common apparel fabrics, including:

  • Cotton
  • Polyester
  • Cotton/poly blends
  • Triblends
  • Many performance fabrics
Are DTF transfers a good fit for small runs, one-offs, and custom names or numbers?

Yes. DTF is a strong option for small runs, one-off orders, and custom names or numbers because it gives you the flexibility to print exactly what you need without being locked into a rigid production setup.

What kinds of artwork usually print best with DTF?

DTF is a versatile option that works well for a wide range of artwork styles. It can handle everything from simple logos to more complex, colorful, and highly detailed designs, which makes it a strong choice for many different types of apparel graphics.

2. BestColor+

What is BestColor+, and how is it different from standard DTF?

BestColor+ is our upgraded DTF print option for customers who want more vivid, higher-impact color.
Standard DTF printing uses:

  • CMYK + White

BestColor+ expands that color range by using:

  • CMYK + RGBO + White

That additional color range allows BestColor+ to produce:

  • Brighter, more vibrant colors
  • Better saturation
  • More depth in colorful artwork
  • A stronger overall visual result compared to standard DTF

In simple terms, standard DTF already looks great, but BestColor+ is designed for artwork that needs an extra level of color intensity and pop.

When should I choose BestColor+ instead of regular DTF transfers?

Choose BestColor+ when your artwork depends on strong, vibrant color and you want the print to have more visual impact than standard DTF.
It’s a better option when:

  • Color intensity matters
  • You want brighter, richer output
  • Your design includes bold, saturated tones
  • You want the artwork to stand out more on the garment

If your goal is the most vivid version of your design, BestColor+ is the stronger choice.

What kinds of artwork benefit most from BestColor+?

BestColor+ works especially well for artwork where color strength makes a big difference in the final result.
This includes designs with:

  • Bright, saturated colors
  • Bold graphics
  • Color-heavy artwork
  • Gradients and blended tones
  • Detailed designs that need more visual impact

If your design relies on vibrant color to stand out, BestColor+ is usually the better option. If your artwork is mainly black, white, or made up of very simple colors, regular DTF can still produce an excellent result.

Is BestColor+ a better option for bright colors, gradients, and detailed designs?

Yes, in many cases it is.
BestColor+ is a stronger choice for artwork that depends on:

  • Bright, vivid colors
  • Smooth gradients
  • Rich saturation
  • Detailed design elements

Because it uses an expanded color range, it can deliver a more vibrant and visually striking result than standard DTF, especially on artwork where color depth and detail matter most.

Does BestColor+ press the same way as your standard DTF transfers?

Yes. BestColor+ applies the same way as our standard DTF transfers
That means:

  • No special application method
  • No separate press setup
  • No extra learning curve

The difference is in the color system and final print result, not in the way the transfer is applied. If you already know how to press our standard DTF, you’ll be able to press BestColor+ the same way.

3. UV DTF

What is UV DTF?

UV DTF is a transfer method made for hard surfaces, not fabric.
It lets you apply full-color designs directly onto products like:

  • Glass
  • Plastic
  • Metal
  • Acrylic
  • Tumblers, cups, and other hard goods

Unlike regular DTF for apparel, UV DTF is designed for product customization and does not require a heat press to apply.

What kinds of products can I decorate with UV DTF Stickers?

UV DTF is made for decorating hard goods and smooth, non-porous surfaces.
It’s commonly used on items like:

  • Tumblers
  • Cups
  • Glassware
  • Mugs
  • Plastic products
  • Metal items
  • Acrylic products
  • Phone cases
  • Packaging and promotional items

If your goal is the most vivid version of your design, BestColor+ is the stronger choice.

Which surfaces work best for UV DTF?

UV DTF works best on smooth, hard, non-porous surfaces.
This includes:

  • Glass
  • Plastic
  • Metal
  • Acrylic
  • Ceramic
  • Coated hard goods

For the best result, the surface should be clean, dry, and as smooth as possible.

Do I need any special equipment to apply UV DTF?

No, UV DTF does not require any special equipment.

  • No heat press needed
  • No UV light needed
  • No printer needed on your end

A squeegee is optional, but it can help make the application smoother and easier by improving pressure and reducing air bubbles.

What is the best way to apply UV DTF?

For the best result, apply UV DTF to a clean, dry, smooth surface and take your time with placement.
Here’s the correct process:

  • Peel off the white backing paper first
  • Keep the design attached to the clear carrier sheet
  • Place the design carefully onto the product
  • Press it down evenly, starting from one side to help avoid air bubbles
  • Once it is fully applied, peel off the clear carrier sheet

The most important part is to remove the white backing, not the clear sheet. The design should stay attached to the transparent carrier until it has been applied to the surface.

Is UV DTF dishwasher safe or hand-wash only?

UV DTF is best treated as hand-wash only.

While it holds up well in normal use, we do not recommend dishwasher use, especially for items like cups, tumblers, or glassware. High heat, water pressure, and repeated dishwasher cycles can shorten the life of the design.

For the best longevity, gentle hand washing is the safer option.

How long does UV DTF last once it is applied?

When applied correctly, UV DTF is meant to be permanent.

It holds up very well in normal use and is designed to stay in place long-term. As long as it’s applied properly and used with reasonable care, it should not give you any issues.

Can UV DTF be removed after it has been applied?

UV DTF is meant to be permanent, so it is not designed to peel off easily once applied.
That said, if needed, it can be removed with the right tools or adhesive-removal solutions. Keep in mind:

  • Removal may take time and effort
  • Some adhesive residue may be left behind
  • Certain surfaces may be more sensitive than others

For that reason, it’s always best to make sure the placement is correct before applying it.

4. Before You Upload Your Artwork

What kind of file gives the cleanest print result?

For the cleanest print result, we recommend using a high-resolution file at 300 DPI or higher.
For best results:

  • Use artwork that is 300 DPI or higher
  • Avoid transparency effects in the design
  • Make sure the file is clean, sharp, and properly sized
  • Do not use screenshots
  • Avoid photos taken from a phone camera
  • Avoid blurry, pixelated, or low-quality files

In general, the cleaner and higher quality your file is, the better your final transfer will print.

Does my artwork need a transparent background?

Please upload your artwork exactly as you want it to print.

If you want only the design itself to print, your file should have a transparent background. If your artwork includes a background, we will place the order on hold and email you to confirm whether that background was left there intentionally before we print it.

Do I need to mirror my design before sending it?

No, please do not mirror your design before uploading.

We handle the print setup on our side, so your artwork should be uploaded in its normal, readable orientation.

Will BestPriceDTF flag obvious artwork issues before printing?

Yes. If we notice an obvious issue with your file, we’ll place the order on hold and reach out before printing.
This can include things like:

  • A visible background
  • Very low image quality
  • File problems that may affect the final result

If something clearly looks off, we’ll do our best to confirm it with you first.

Can you help edit my artwork before printing?

Yes, if it’s a small adjustment like resizing, background removal, or other basic edits, we can help.
Just place your order through the Transfers By Size section and include your request in the order notes. Please make sure the instructions are clear and specific.

5. Building Your Gang Sheet

What exactly is a gang sheet?

A gang sheet is a single sheet that includes multiple designs, logos, or sizes laid out together for printing.

Instead of ordering each design separately, you can place several artworks on one sheet and print them all at once. It’s also one of the most practical and cost-effective ways to order, especially when you want to fit more artwork into a single sheet and get the most value from your space.

How much space should I leave between designs?

We recommend leaving at least 0.25 inches between each design.

That spacing helps keep the sheet clean, makes cutting easier, and reduces the chance of designs feeling too crowded.

Can I upload individual designs instead of building the full sheet myself?

Yes. If you do not want to build the full gang sheet yourself, you can simply place your order through the Transfers By Size section.

Our graphic designers will take care of your gang sheet layout based on the instructions you leave in the order notes.

6. Choosing the Right Print Size

What size works best for a chest logo?

For most adult garments, a chest logo is usually around 3 to 4 inches wide.

The ideal size can vary depending on the design, but that range works well for most standard logo placements.

What size should I choose for a full front or full back design?

For most adult garments, full front and full back designs are usually between 10 and 12 inches wide.

The right size can vary depending on the artwork and the garment size, but that range works well for most standard full-size prints.

What sizes usually work best for youth garments?

For most youth garments, designs usually work best in the 7 to 9 inch range.

The exact size depends on the age group, garment size, and artwork style, but that range is a good starting point for most youth prints.

What size should I choose for oversized prints?

For oversized prints, most customers usually choose a design that is 12 inches wide or larger, depending on the garment and the look they want.

Oversized sizing can vary more than standard prints, but if you want a bigger, more dominant print area, going beyond the usual full front size is the right direction.

11. Pressing Your Transfers

What press settings do you recommend for BestPriceDTF transfers?

For best results, we recommend pressing at 315–325°F for 6–12 seconds with firm, even pressure.

A typical application process looks like this:

  • Place the transfer in position
  • Press at 315–325°F for 6–12 seconds
  • Peel immediately after pressing
  • For a smoother finish and added durability, press again using parchment paper or a Teflon sheet

Pre-pressing is not required, but it can help if the garment has wrinkles or moisture.

Pressure guidelines:

  • Air compressor press: 70–80 PSI
  • Electric press: Level 4
  • Manual press: firm, even pressure

For the full step-by-step guide and our heat press video, visit this page.

Are your transfers hot peel or cold peel?

Our transfers are hot peel, which means the film should be peeled right after pressing while it is still hot.

This gives you a faster application process and helps keep production moving efficiently.

Should I pre-press the garment first?

Pre-pressing is not required, but it can be helpful if the garment has wrinkles or moisture.

If the surface is already smooth and dry, you can go straight to applying the transfer.

What fabrics press best with your transfers?

Our transfers work well on a wide range of fabrics, including cotton, polyester, blends, triblends, and many performance fabrics.

That flexibility is one of the reasons DTF is such a strong option for different garment types and product lines.

Why is my transfer not sticking properly?

If your transfer is not sticking properly, it usually comes down to one of these common reasons:

  • The temperature is too low
  • The pressure is not firm enough
  • The press time is too short
  • The garment has moisture or wrinkles
  • The heat press is not applying even pressure across the design

We recommend first making sure you are following our suggested press settings. If the issue continues, you can test on a throwaway garment, record a short heat press video, and send it to us by email. Our team can review it with our engineers and help you find the best solution.

What is the best way to wash garments after pressing?

For the best long-term results, we recommend washing garments:

  • Inside out
  • In water that is not hot
  • On a gentle cycle
  • With mild detergent

We also recommend:

  • Avoiding bleach
  • Avoiding high heat
  • Not ironing directly on the design

Proper washing helps keep the transfer looking its best over time.

How durable are BestPriceDTF transfers after repeated washing?

Our transfers are made to hold up very well over time when they are applied correctly and cared for properly.

With the right application and washing method, they are designed to stay:

  • Vibrant
  • Secure
  • Long-lasting
  • Durable through 75+ washes

For the best durability, it’s important to follow the recommended press settings and wash instructions.
